BIOGRAPHY
Tang Xing Lin
aka Dr. Doop3
Born in Zunyi, China in 1994 and initially trained as a graphic designer, he later moved into the world of artistic illustration.
Through his introspective works, Dr. Doop3 aims to denounce modern man's greed. The "monsters" he gives birth to are instinctive, hidden in the subconscious, bursting onto the scene violently. Multiple eyes stare at the viewer - inquisitive and unsettling. The phallic forms evoke man's uncontrolled desire, greedy and gluttonous. The violent gestures communicate a strong need for release that finds no resolution. Dr. Doop3's visual work can be interpreted as a journey through all the emotions a human being can experience in an instant but can never fully express outside their own thoughts and sensations. The chaos, buried in one's subconscious, expressed through one's art. The "confusion" has accompanied humanity since its social origins. The creation of artificial patterns has led to an exponential constraint of instinct and what humanity cannot discuss openly. Hence Dr. Doop3's need to visualize this pulsating, repressed force through techniques learned during his artistic training (Shui-mo - the art of chiaroscuro, Gongbi - the art of realistic accuracy, and traditional printing techniques learned during his stay in Italy) and filtered through the cultural stimuli that surrounded him during his growth, from the anime explosion (like Evangelion) to the underground hip-hop scene he participated in himself in his hometown with posters, album covers and streetwear design (BZUG crew).
