There are artists who explode inside you.
Igor Hofbauer is one of them.
In early spring 2017, signals from Hof came from all directions: the book The Art of Modern Rock that I received as a birthday gift in February, the poster of a concert given to me by a musician friend who played in Zagreb exactly those days, Macerata, where we went to meet the organizers of the Ratatà Festival, Enrico from Strane Dizioni, who was printing some of Hof’s screenprints right when we visited his studio.
The signals were so clear that they turned into a bombardment that could only be answered by jumping in the car heading to Zagreb.
Everything happened in the simplest, most spontaneous and above all unreal way possible.
It seemed like Hof was waiting for us… great chemistry from the very first moment we met.
He trusted us so much that we left Zagreb with “the exhibition” in the car, about a hundred works.
For this reason we decided to pay homage to him with a 3D rendition of Mister Morgen, and thinking that a simple catalog might be limiting for Igor, we made a book that includes authoritative commentaries on his twenty-five years of work accompanied by almost all the works in the exhibition, without forgetting to include what best tells the story of his work to those who do not know him yet.
Having made this necessary introduction, the only doubt left is this: Who’s going to tell Igor that there will be no catalog for his exhibition?
